How to Stop SMS Bomb?
Continuously receiving multiple SMS messages, this was sometimes or always made by SMS Bombers using softwares that can easily download from file sharing networks. It’s very annoying when you are receiving multiple nonsense messages from nonsense people. By definition, SMS Bomb is a simple PC or Mobile software that sends unlimited SMS messages to a particular number. If SMS Bomb is a PC Software, bombing can achieve by sending multiple HTTP POST to sms services from websites with poor security measures (eg. websites without captcha) or using SMS Blast (hardware dongle). If from mobile, simple codes written in java, python, etc., SMS Bomb can be created combined with your subscription plan from your telecom operator.
How other people react?
This was actually happened not more than a year ago. A young boy (not sure about the age) received several sms messages from his older brother, The news did not mention how the older brother sent the messages but I know he just sms bombed his younger brother. Intentionally, the boy took a hard time in deleting the messages and the boy reacted exaggeratedly. He rip off his older brother’s "toy", a "sumpak" and point to back of his older brother’s head while sitting back to him and triggered it that led to death of his brother. The investigation focused in "where does the sumpak came from".
How to get rid of this?
There are ways to stop or get rid of SMS bombers:
- Blocklist. Some phones have their own blocking feature, usually found on Messaging menu. If your phone doesn’t have, download it. Just search the terms such as, download anti sms bomb, download anti sms spam, etc.. Install and blocklist the sender’s number.
- Rest. Let the SMS Message dissolved. On your phone’s messaging menu, look for the Text Message settings and set the message validity to 1 hour or minimum time. Turn off your phone for atleast 1 hour. When turned on, you will then unable to recieve the messages sent 1 hour after your phone was off. Messages sent to you by other people will also unable to receive.
- Ask for Help. Call your telecom operator and ask for customer support. If possible, request to terminate the subscription of the bomber. Your telco operator might request you to have a personal appearance on their office.
- Revenge. This action is not ethical and I do not recommend this. You can download SMS Bomb and bomb them. The bomber may reconsider stop annoying you if you can do the same.Doing this only proves that you and the bomber are the same. Anyway, if you still insist to do it, I provided simple code writen in Python for S60 that continuously send sms messages.
This is only basic codes and I have no intention to make SMS Bomber.
